ELLIS L. TISH, SEARSBORO, DIES; SUNDAY SERVICES
Ellis L. (Jack) Tish, 68, of Searsboro, died Thursday evening at an Iowa City hospital.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Community Friends church at Searsboro with the Rev. Myrtle C. Lee and the Rev. Annie Laurie Greiner officiating. Interment was in West Liberty cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Blakely-Stevens Post No. 169 of the Montezuma American Legion.
Vocal music was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Steen, accompanied by Mrs. Frank Mitchell and Mrs. Leo Watson at the organ. In charge of flowers were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Sandie and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hasley. Pallbearers were Don Johnson, Kenneth Smith, Leo Evans, Glen Brignon, John Steacher, and Raymond Fickel.
James-Schalinske Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
The son of Jasper and Asenith Evans Tish, he was born May 9th, 1894, at Searsboro, and attended the Searsboro schools. He was a lifetime resident of the Searsboro community, with the exception of the time he served with the U.S. Army during World War I. He served overseas in France.
Mr. Tish was a member of Blakely-Stevens Post 169 of the American Legion at Montezuma.
On Aug. 30th, 1937, he was united in marriage with Evelyn A. Webb of Osceola. To this union were born two children, Thomas of Searsboro and Dorothy of Eau Claire, Wisc.
A carpenter by trade, he also served the Searsboro post office as clerk and substitute mail carrier.
Mr. Tish is survived by his wife, his son and daughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and a niece, Mrs. Olive Brown of Grinnell, who died in September of 1962.
