DARLENE DAVIS

Darlene Louise Davis, 66, of Grinnell died Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, officiating. Organist was Margaret Wheeler, and soloist was Dottie Smith. Pallbearers were John, Steve and Jim Davis; Ed and Paul Brown; and David Smith.

Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of Carl and Velma Butler Smith, she was born June 15, 1931, in Grinnell, where she was raised and received her education.

She was married to Van E. Davis Jr. Sept. 22, 1948, in Iowa City. They lived in Grinnell.

Mrs. Davis was employed at the Monroe Hotel, the Grinnell Shoe Factory and the Model Lunch Restaurant.

She is survived by her husband; one son, Ronald of Grinnell; one daughter, Pam Wolver of Grinnell; three grandchildren; and two brothers, Hank Butler of Reasnor and Gary Smith of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Randy.
