SHOOTS SELF, WOMAN DIES

A Montezuma woman died early Wednesday of a self-inflicted gunshot wound she sustained late Tuesday evening at the Monte Tap.

Deputy Sheriff Mike Shutts said Karla Snider, 24, was taken first to Grinnell General Hospital, then transferred to University Hospitals in Iowa City where she died at 2:55 a.m. Wednesday.

Shutts said Snider had purchased a .25-cal. automatic pistol in Grinnell. She reportedly had been having domestic problems.

Snider shot herself in the right temple at approximately 11 p.m. Tuesday after having just emerged from a restroom at the Montezuma tavern, Shutts said.
