WOMAN DIES OF GUNSHOT WOUND

A 24-year-old Montezuma woman, Karla Snider, died early Wednesday, Sept. 2, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Authorities said Miss Snider shot herself in the right temple with a .25 cal. automatic pistol as she came out of the restroom at the Monte Tap about 10:55 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1. She was taken to Grinnell General Hospital in the Montezuma fire department ambulance and then transferred to University Hospitals, Iowa City, where she died at 2:55 the next morning.

The incident was investigated by city police, sheriff's department and the highway patrol. An officer said she had been despondent since the death of her mother last spring. A note to her family was found at her home.
