MAXINE PAUL SERVICES TODAY
Maxine Paul, 64, of 1422 Reed St., Grinnell, registrar of Grinnell College, died of cancer Friday, April 22, at her home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. today at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. James P. Russell of the Grinnell United Methodist Church officiating. Organist will be Alice Renaud, and pallbearers will be Warren Beaty, Floyd Beaver, William Caughey, Joseph Danforth, Leonard Heinselman and Ray Mitchell. Honorary bearers will be Victor Bailey, Paul Borchert, John Craig, Earl Mitchell and Frank Mitchell.
Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery.
The daughter of Chester A. and Barbara Fuller Humphrey, she was born Oct. 18, 1918, in Poweshiek County. She graduated from Newburg High School in 1936 and later attended Strayer Business College in Washington, D.C.
She was married to Waldo Paul on Dec. 19, 1937, in Arlington, Va. The couple lived in Arlington until 1942 when they moved to Grinnell.
Mrs. Paul was employed by Grinnell College from 1945 to 1951 and again from 1958 until her death. She had been named registrar in 1973. Mrs. Paul was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband; one son, Larry E. Paul of Greenwood, Miss.; one grandson; a brother, Donald P. Humphrey of rural Newburg; and a sister, Dorothy Wiseman of Gilman. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Marjory Wallis.
