RITES SET FOR WALDO PAUL

Waldo Paul, 67, of 1422 Reed St., Grinnell, died Sunday, Aug. 18, at Grandview Heights of Marshalltown.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ken Wallace of the Newburg-Chester Parish, United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The son of Roy and Myrtle Stanton Paul, he was born Nov. 16, 1917 near Gilman. He attended the Newburg Church and was a graduate of Newburg High School.

On Dec. 19, 1937, he was married to Maxine Humphrey at Arlington, Va. The couple lived in the Washington, D.C. area until 1942 when they moved to Grinnell. Mr. Paul was employed by the Standard Oil Co., and from 1960 to 1980 he worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation as a peace officer.

He is survived by one grandson; two brothers, Wendell Paul of rural Grinnell and Gerald Paul of Alpine, Texas; and two sisters, Betty Dawson of Boone and Hazel Dykstra of Waverly, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one son, Lawrence E. Paul.
