MARVIN L. SISSON

Marvin L. Sisson, 75, of 624 Pearl St., Grinnell, died of a heart attack Thursday, March 25, at his home.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael Smith, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Grinnell, officiating. Organist was Margaret Wheeler, and casket bearers were Ace and Dennis Perry, Larry and Ronnie Shook, and Ryan, Shad and Todd Sisson.

Burial was in Pleasant Township Cemetery, Ewart, with graveside rites conducted by the Grinnell Veterans Ceremonial Unit.

He was born March 23, 1924, in Conrad to Horace and Bertha Mitchell Sisson. He was raised in Marshall County and attended school there. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was married to Betty J. Howard March 24, 1959, in Raleigh, Neb.

Mr. Sisson had lived in Grinnell for many years and worked in the plumbing department of Ritter Hardware. He later operated S&H Plumbing Co. in Grinnell, retiring in 1981.

He was a member of the Grinnell American Legion Post, the Eagles Lodge and the AARP.

Surviving are two sons, Norman of Las Vegas, Nev., and Patrick of Fulton, Miss.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lois McDonald of Marshalltown and Edith M. Perry of LeGrand.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one sister, Helen V. Barnes; and one brother, Russell.

A memorial fund in his name is being established.
