ARTIS L. WILSON, 88

Artis Louise Wilson, 88, of North English, died following a short illness, on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the English Valley Care Center in North English.

Her funeral service was held Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English with Pastor Don Ridenour officiating. Burial was in the Golden Rod Cemetery in Deep River.

Casket bearers were Randy Bauer, Kevin Bauer, Danny Bauer, Kevin Bauer, Kyle Bauer and Jerry Smith.

Honorary casket bearers were Larry Kirkpatrick, John O'Rourke, Ron Roberts, Keith Wilson and Keith Tish.

Artis was born Sept. 22, 1914, in Malcom, the daughter of Arthur and Vera Dell Royce Magnusson. She grew up in Malcom and graduated from Malcom High School. On Dec. 29, 1932, she was united in marriage with George Earnest Wilson, Jr. in Lancaster, Mo. They lived on a farm near Deep River and moved to North English in 1959. George preceded her in death in June 1985. Artis worked a couple of years at the English Valley Creamery, worked part-time as a bookkeeper and secretary for five years at the North English Lumber Co., 29 years at Kirkpatrick Feed Mill & Supply. She retired in 1999.

Artis is survived by a daughter, Maurita J. Bauer and her husband Carroll of North English; three grandsons, Randy Bauer and wife Julie and their children, Stephanie and Elizabeth of Walford; Kevin Bauer and wife Carole and their children Kevin, Kyle, Kelsey and step-children; Bobby and Stefanie of Des Moines; and Danny Bauer of Indianola, nieces and nephews Jerry and Sheryl Smith of Malcom, Eugene and Karen Haines of Isaquah, Wa., Max and Geraldine Taylor of Bossier, La., and Keith and Jean Wilson of Solon.

Artis was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Dennis George Wilson, a sister, Evelyn Tabbutt, two great-grandsons, Jacob Bauer and Bradley Bauer.
