SERVICES HELD FOR ARTHUR MAGNUSSON

Services for Arthur Magnusson were held Monday, May 11, at 2:00 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Malcom, Rev. E.E. Beattie was in charge, assisted by Rev. Holler of Brooklyn. Music was by Mrs. Keith Stahl who sang "Good Night Down Here but Good Morning Up There" and "Beyond the Sunset" accompanied by Mrs. Nellie Farley. The Albert Parkers and the Grant Heishmans were in charge of the flowers.

Casket bearers were Phineaus Varnum, Edward Barnes, Kenneth McKeag, Gordon Osborn, E.F. Holmes and LeRoy Budd. Bramer Funeral Home of Brooklyn was in charge of the services and interment was in Golden Rod Cemetery at Deep River.

OBITUARY

Arthur, youngest son of Charlotte Ann Larson and Charles Magnusson was born on February 9, 1883 at Lansing, Iowa and passed away on May 8, 1959 at the Methodist Worrall Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota at the age of 76 years and 3 months.

He was a graduate of Lansing High School and Highland Park Pharmaceutical College in Des Moines. On December 29, 1909 he was united in marriage to Vera Dell Royce of Malcom; to this union two daughters were born.

Mr. Magnusson has been a Registered Pharmacist for 52 years and has owned and operated a Drug Store in Malcom for 44 years. In April, 1957 he was presented an "Honorary Fifty Year Certificate" from the Iowa Pharmacy Examiners and signed by Governor Loveless.

In February of this year Mr. Magnusson became ill and was unable to be at the store. He spent some time in a Grinnell hospital and also in an Oskaloosa hospital but found no relief from his illness. He remained at home where he was cared for by his wife and children until Wednesday, May 6 when he made the decision to enter Mayo Clinic in Rochester. On Friday morning he suffered a severe heart attack and passed away at 3:40 Friday afternoon.

Surviving are his wife Vera, two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Rainey of Malcom and Mrs. Artis Wilson of Deep River, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 1 brother Herman of Lansing, a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives. Preceding him in death were his father and mother, 5 brothers, 3 sisters and an infant grandson.

Thus completes a full life of faithful public health service to his community.
