GRIM REAPER EXACTS TOLL WITHOUT FAVOR
Wayne Devere, Infant Son of Mr. and Mrs. Forest Rector Dies Sunday Evening
After living only three days, and when its prospects for life were brightest, and the parents were rejoicing over their new born, death entered the home and took away the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Forest Rector.
Dr. Wilcox and Dr. Kloos of Montezuma attended the case and were finally forced to get the services of a specialist in order to save the life of Mrs. Rector. Fortunately Dr. Kelly, of the Methodist hospital of Des Moines had a call to perform an operation for appendicitis near Montezuma and stopped here enroute long enough to put Mrs. Rector out of danger.
Miss Fern Goodale, a trained nurse from Des Moines attended Mrs. Rector and stayed until Monday morning when she returned to Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon and the baby was buried in Ivy Hill cemetery. Dr. G.S. Baskervill had charge of the services.
