ALLIE BUSH

Alice May Newton Bush, daughter of Elwin and Harriett Clay Newton, was born on July 12, 1887, in Newburg, Iowa. She received her education in the Gilman school.

She was united in marriage to Ira Eugene Bush on December 29, 1909, in Stuttgart, Arkansas. They came to Brooklyn in 1912.

Mrs. Bush was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, the Philathea Class of the church and the Mary Circle, taught Sunday School for many years, and was a former member of the Pythian Sisters.

Mrs. Bush is survived by two sons, Elwin of Brooklyn and Eugene of Sacramento, California; two daughters, Miss Ardis Bush of Sacramento, California and Mrs. H. Althea Walker of Yucaipa, California; two sisters, Mrs. Lola Lackey and Mrs. Alma Lackey, both of Rock Island, Illinois; 16 grandchildren; (??) great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bush was preceded in death by her parents; husband who died in 1970; 1 son, Doanld; 1 daughter, Lorraine; and 1 brother, Loren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Allie Bush, 88, of the Brookhaven Nursing Home, Brooklyn, were held at 1:30 P.M., Saturday, in the Nevenhoven Funeral Home. Mrs. Bush died Thursday afternoon in Grinnell General Hospital.

Rev. Fred Pierce, Pastor of the Grace United Methodist Church, officiated. The organist was Mrs. Ed Bartachek. Casket-bearers were Dan McConnell, Cecil Mitchell, Kendall Andrews, Bruce Patten, Karl Bush, and Gene Patten. Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery.
