PETE KELLER DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS

Funeral services for Pete Keller, 74, Madison township farmer, were held Monday afternoon at one o'clock at the Madison Church of Christ with Kenneth Siemens, minister, officiating. Organist was Mrs. Jack Lang.

Burial was in the Brooklyn I.O.O.F. cemetery where military rites were accorded by the American Legion post of Brooklyn. Pallbearers were Wallace Lang, Marion Hendrickson, Maynard Lang, Charles De Pauw, Gerald Read and Lyle Wiley. Flower attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Kleiss and Mrs. Charles De Pauw.

Mr. Keller had been hospitalized in Community hospital at Grinnell since last March when he suffered a stroke following surgery.

Peter George Keller, son of Frank and Rozella Keller, was born August 20,1892, in North Vernon, Ind. and died Sept. 15, 1966. When he was 19 years old he came to the Brooklyn community. In 1920 he was married to Mabel Shadel and three daughters and one son were born to the couple. The family always lived in Malcom township where he was a member of the Church of Christ.

He was a veteran of World War I having served in the infantry. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 294 of Brooklyn. He had been presented a 45-year membership pin of the local Legion post.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Lorene) Archer of West Des Moines; Mrs. Charles (Virginia) Gardner of Elmhurst, Ill., and Mrs. James (Wanda) Stirniman of Channahon, Ill.; one son, Laurel Keller of Brooklyn; 15 grandchildren; one brother, James Keller of Brooklyn; and one sister, Mrs. Edgar (Letha) Buchenau of Brooklyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers and sisters and one grandchild.
