MABEL BREITING

Mabel Breiting, age 79, of 827 Pearl Street, passed away Tuesday morning at the Grinnell General Hospital East. The daughter of Hudson T. and Jeanette Bowie Lewis, she was born on Dec. 25, 1888 at Topeka, Kansas. The family then moved to Grinnell where she attended school.

On her 21st birthday she was united in marriage to Alfred Breiting, a Grinnell barber. Four children were born to this union.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grinnell.

Mrs. Breiting is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Freeman Hall (Dorothy) of Brooklyn, her three sons: Robert of Grinnell, R.L. of Denver, Colo., G.W. of Puyallup, Wash.; nine grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Mrs. Jennie Speth and Mrs. Gertrude Whitaker of Grinnell, Mrs. Margaret Bellnap of Marshalltown, Mrs. Lillian Eilers of Long Beach, Calif., and her brother George Lewis of Wilmar, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1942, her parents and twin sister Maude in 1906, and an infant sister.

Funeral services for Mrs. Breiting will be Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home. Rev Wayne Shireman, pastor of the First Baptist Chruch will officiate, the organist will be Mrs. Marvin Nothnagel and interment will be in Hazelwood Cemetery. Pallbearers are Kenneth Breiting, Peter Russos, Jim Hall, Shirley Sisco, Max Ratcliff and Gene Breiting.
