CARL PRINCE RITES SATURDAY

Carl E. Prince, 62, of 620 State St., Grinnell, died Wednesday evening at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Grinnell First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert C. Smith officiating. Organist was Edward Bohstedt, and vocalist was Dorothy Smith. Pallbearers were Chuck McDaniel, Jerry McGinnis, Robert J. McNeer, Jim Miller, Norman Slycord and Bill Ward.

Graveside rites were conducted by the Grinnell Veterans Ceremonial Unit, with burial at Hazelwood Cemetery.

The son of John and Bonnie Triplett Prince, he was born Dec. 5, 1919, at Joplin, Mo. He attended schools in Sioux City, graduating from high school in 1937. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army.

On Sept. 15, 1945, he was married to Ruby Smith at Newton, The couple lived in Grinnell, and Mr. Prince was employed by the Maytag Co. in Newton for over 30 years. He retired in 1975. He was a member of the United Auto Workers in Newton.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby; two children, Marie Cohen of Muscatine and Frederick Prince of Grinnell, and two sisters, Carrie Broyles of Andarko, Okla., and Naomi Palmer of Belton, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Howard.
