EDELEN RITES HELD JUNE 14

Anna Edelen, 83, of Brooklyn died Tuesday morning, June 12, in Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services for Anna Edelen were held Thursday, June 14, at 1:30 p.m., in the Grace United Methodist Church in Brooklyn. The Rev. Fred Pierce officiated. Organist was Mrs. Ed Bartachek and Mrs. William Kelley was vocalist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Edna Ryan, Mrs. Walter Scott, Mrs. Delmar Heishman and Mrs. Howard Brimmer.

Honorary casket bearers were Ray Evans, Howard Brimmer and Harold Carlsen. Casket bearers were Ross Wylie, Steve Henry, George Cline, Paul Lacaeyse, Eldon Burns, and Russell Rosegreen. Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery in Brooklyn.

Born March 8, 1896, on a farm north of Brooklyn, she was the daughter of Frank and Matilda Springer Gloe. She graduated from Brooklyn High in 1916 and taught in rural schools and in South Brooklyn School.

She married John Edelen on Jan. 3, 1921, in Des Moines. The couple farmed until their retirement.

A member of the Grace United Methodist Church and UMW, she worked too for Rebekah Lodge and the Community Welfare Workers' Club.

She is survived by her husband and their daughter, Carma Mohler. She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers.
