RITES CONDUCTED SATURDAY FOR MRS. NELLE MARTIN

Mrs. Nelle E. Martin, 78, widow of J.C. "Peck" Martin, died at her home in Grinnell Thursday evening. She had been ill for about two months.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Smith Funeral Home with Dr. G.S. Bruland of the Grinnell Methodist church officiating. Organist was Mrs. Kathleen Heffner.

Pallbearers were Wesley Ahrens, Charles Hink, Jim McNally, Howard Sage, Ed Speth and Pete Staffanou. Burial was in Jackson Township cemetery at Montezuma.

Born Aug. 7th, 1881, she was the daughter of George and Nettie McVey McNeal of Jackson Township. She received her education in the Montezuma public schools and later moved to Grinnell.

On June 30th, 1917, in Des Moines, she was united in marriage with J.C. Martin, who preceded her in death in 1943. They raised Mrs. Mildred Wilson Bailey of Grinnell and Donald Wilson, who preceded her in death in 1945.

She is survived by two brothers and two sisters: Charles McNeal of Grinnell, Lee McNeal of New Sharon, Mrs. Perle Niswander of Tama, and Mrs. Elmer Reed of San Francisco, Calif. Also surviving are two nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and Donald Wilson, she was preceded in death by one sister and one brother: Mrs. Aletha Wilson and Burton McNeal.

Mrs. Martin was a member of the Methodist church and belonged to the WSCS; was a member of the Pythian Sisters, of which she was a past chief; the Harmony Club; the Video Club and the Courtesy Club.
