FLOYD TARVIN, 82

Floyd Tarvin, 82, Montezuma, died Saturday, June 11, 1994 at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center, Grinnell.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 14, at 10 a.m. at the Montezuma Presbyterian Church with the Rev. George Salnave officiating. Burial was in the Masonic-I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Montezuma. A Masonic service was held.

Floyd was born on May 1, 1912, the son of Roy and Una Turney Tarvin. He graduated from Montezuma High School. He was married to Iola Edna McCaw on July 18, 1931 at Rock Island, Illinois, and together spent most of their married life in Montezuma. He was a mechanic and operated a garage in Montezuma for many years, and later operated Tarvin's Auto Parts in Montezuma and retired in 1986. On April 6, 1988, Iola died. Floyd was a member of the Montezuma Presbyterian Church, Lafayette Lodge #52 A.F. and A.M., and for many years was very active with the Montezuma Volunteer Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a son: William Lee Tarvin; two brothers: Everett Tarvin and Clark Tarvin; and two sisters: Lois Marie Tarvin and Lodi Slagle.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Dr. Robert and Lynda Tarvin of West Milton, Ohio; 3 granddaughters: Bobbi Tarvin, Kerri Tarvin and her husband, Bernard Bouis, and Jodi Tarvin. Also surviving are two sisters: Mrs. Floyd (Marjorie) Little of Montezuma and Mrs. Bertha Vanderburgh of Grinnell; and two brothers and their wives: Raymond and Margaret Tarvin, Malcom and Cleo and Ruth Tarvin, Florida.

Memorials may be made to the Montezuma Volunteer Fire Department.
