MRS. JORDAN RITES HELD WEDNESDAY

The funeral of Mrs. Allen (Edith) Jordan was held Wednesday afternoon, March 29, at the Steffy Funeral Home with the Rev. Howard Hayes officiating. William Rempp was soloist at the services accompanied by Miss Alice Underwood at the organ.

Burial was at Jackson Township Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Jordan, Robert Jordan, Arthur Craver, William Gregory, Dennis Hutchinson and Donald VanErsvelde.

Mrs. Jordan, 71, died Monday, March 27, at her rural Montezuma home.

The daughter of Emma and Robert Baird, she was born in Scott Township, Poweshiek County, Iowa, on Dec. 26, 1895. In her youth she attended the rural school near her home.

On Feb. 9, 1916, she was united in marriage with Allen E. Jordan. To this union four children were born. Their entire married life of over 50 years was spent in farming in the Montezuma community.

Mrs. Jordan was a member of the Montezuma Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Clarence E. Jordan; four brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by her husband; their three daughters, Mae Gregory of Des Moines, Pauline Hutchinson of Montezuma and Alice Hockey of Newton; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ethel Herbrandt of Brooklyn.
