OBITUARY

Almond, son of Roselia and William Stevenson, was born on a farm north of Deep River, on January 12, 1887, and passed away in Montezuma, Iowa, on April 17, 1965, at seventy-eight years of age.

He attended the local school and worked on the farm.

On Aug. 17, 1921, he was united in marriage with Lizzie Baird Johnston. They farmed in Poweshiek County until about fifteen years ago when they moved to Montezuma. After retiring from farming, Almond was employed in the Monte Cafe. He was preceded in death by his wife and one step-son, Robert Johnston.

He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Nora Gibson and Mrs. Anna Johnston; one brother, Leamond Stevenson, all of Deep River; also, one step-daughter, Mrs. Edith Barber, of Oskaloosa; other relatives and many friends.

Almond has been a member of the Golden Rod Lodge No. 512, AF and AM, of Deep River, for about forty-five years.

Funeral services were held at Steffy Fuenral Home, 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 19, with Rev. Wm. Morehouse, officiating and Mrs. Lyle Cole, organist.

Casketbearers were Harold Johnston, Ray Herbrandt, Warren Stevenson, Raymond Grimm, Roy Baird and Bud Baird. Interment was at Jackson Twp. Cemetery, Montezuma, Iowa.
