RITES HELD FOR MRS. ALMOND STEVENSON

Funeral services were conducted from the Steffy Funeral Home on Jan. 20 for Mrs. Almond Stevenson. Rev. George S. Snyder conducted the 2:00 p.m. service. Mrs. Stevenson passed away at the Mahaska Hospital, where she had been a patient for the past week.

Casket bearers were Harold Johnson, Warren Stevenson, Lester Baird, Clarence Jordan, Chester Baird and Jim Herbrandt.

Interment was in the Jackson Township Cemetery.

OBITUARY

Frances Elizabeth Stevenson, daughter of Robert and Emma Baird, was born in Scott Township, Poweshiek County, Iowa, on April 11, 1891, and departed this life on January 18, 1959, at 68 years of age.

Lizzie, as she was called, attended rural school and the Fairmount Methodist Church.

On February 11, 1911, she was united in marriage with Earl Johnston, to this union two children were born. Mr. Johnston passed away in 1917 and for several years she and the children lived with Mr. and Mrs. Baird.

On August 17, 1921, she was married to Almond Stevenson. They made their home in Poweshiek County, until they moved into Montezuma, about ten years ago.

She is survived by her husband, her son, Robert Johnston of Montezuma, her daughter, Edith Barber of Oskaloosa, five grandchildren and one great- grandchild, also, one brother, Will Baird of Blissfield, Mich., and three sisters, Emma Baird and Ethel Herbrandt of Brooklyn, and Edith Jordan of Montezuma, other relatives and many friends.
