SERVICES HELD FOR ROBERT JOHNSTON

Services for Robert Johnston were held Saturday May 30, at the Methodist Church. Interment was in the Masonic Oddfellow Cemetery, Montezuma with the Rev. George E. Snyder in charge of the 2:00 p.m. services.

Appropriate selections were played by Alice Underwood. Pallbearers were Earl DeJong, Lester Baird, Ray Herbrandt, Clarence Jordan, Dwight Sanders and Harry Bunnell.

OBITUARY

Robert, son of Earl and Elizabeth Baird Johnston, was born on a farm in Scott Township on February 13, 1912, and died in Montezuma, Iowa on May 28, 1959, at the age of 47 years. He attended the rural schools of the community.

On December 28, 1938, he was united in marriage to Nellie McNeal and to this union three children were born.

Except for one year in Cedar Falls, Iowa their entire married life was spent on farms in Poweshiek County. In March of this year after the death of his mother they moved in with Almond Stevenson so that he could retain his home. Since that time Bob has been employed at the Winborn Hatchery.

Mr. Johnston was a member of the Montezuma Methodist Church and a faithful attendant of the Quest Sunday School class.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother. Beside his wife, Nellie, he is survived by two daughters, Louise, a student at Iowa State Teachers College, and Linda, a junior in high school; one son, Robert, Jr., in junior high; one sister, Edith Barber Oskaloosa; his step-father, Almond Stevenson; other relatives and many friends.
