MRS. BENHARD WEBER DIES

Augusta Sophia Lisker was born May 9, 1856, in Maumburg, Germany. She came to America with her parents when about one year old. The Lisker family first located in Benton county, Iowa, but later on moved to Poweshiek, where Augusta, with her six brothers and sisters, grew to womanhood.

At the age of nineteen she was married to Benhard Weber, following which union residence was taken on the farm northeast of Grinnell, where the deceased resided until her departure from this life. Five children were born to the Weber union, of which four are still living, William having passed away in infancy. A severe blow to the family, to the mother in particular was the rather early death of the father. Mr. Weber was summoned hence twenty-nine years ago, but the hardships and responsibilities that this turn of Providence placed upon our departed sister's shoulders were creditably borne.

Mrs. Weber was confirmed in the Lutheran faith and ever strove to be a faithful witness of her Lord. Her path of life was strewn with a measure of hardships not common to all, but she bore them with unusual cheerfulness and patience. Her first thought ever seemed to be for the welfare and comfort of others, rather than for herself. Not only her children, but her neighbors and friends will readily vouch for this. Though apparently not rich in this world's goods, her outward life in the circle of kin and acquaintance in both good and evil days manifested a richness in God.

The illness to which Mrs. Weber succumbed was pneumonia. Her weakened condition, brought about by a broken leg with which she was confined to her bed for many weeks, and her advanced age were factors that awoke grave concern in the hearts of all near to her at the very outset. Loving hands did what was in their power to stay the disease, but to no avail. The final summons came on Wednesday, Dec. 19, at about 1:30 o'clock. She attained the age of seventy-two years, seven months, and ten days.

She leaves to mourn her loss, four children, Mrs. Andrew Diehm, Jake, Joe and Fred Weber, eleven grandchildren, and a younger sister, Mrs. Hagenlock of Sheridan, ( ? ).

Interment was made on the family lot in the Trinity Lutheran cemetery of Malcom, on Saturday, December 22, with pastor Geo. F. Dirks in charge. The bearers were Chas. Appleby, Martin Schultz, Chas. Rohr, Gust Kelm, Chris Schults and Albert Hanssen.
