RITES HELD FOR BERTIE DIEHM

Funeral services for Bertie Diehm, 21, of 521 High St., who drowned in Lake Nyanza early Thursday morning, were held at 10:30 a.m. today (Aug. 19) at the Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Sam Reaves officiating.

Organist was Mrs. Sam Reaves, and vocalist was Sam Reaves Jr. Pallbearers were James Vanderveer, Duane O'Halloran, Kenneth Mortenson, Marvel Muskemo, Joseph Diehm and Jake Diehm. Burial was in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery near Malcom, with the James-Schalinske Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The son of Bert and Georgia Belcher Diehm, he was born April 27, 1953, in Grinnell and received his educatiion in the Grinnell schools. He had been employed by various firms in Grinnell.

Survivors include his parents; seven sisters, Betty O'Halloran of Malcom, Clara Hawkins of Newton, Linda Diehm of Grinnell, Carol Diehm of Springfield, Mo., Patricia Muskemo of Rochester, Minn., Diane Mortenson of Grinnell and Debra Howard of New Sharon; and three brothers, Joseph, Jake and Daniel, all of Grinnell.
