DELLA A. SPRINGER

Della A. Springer, 78, of Seeland Park, formerly of the Rock Creek Lake area, died Monday, May 6, 2003, at St. Francis Manor.

A funeral service was held Thursday, May 8, at Smith Funeral Home with John Epperson, pastor of Grinnell Christian Church, officiating. Pianist was Barbara Chitwood. Casket bearers were Randy Deppe, Dick and Gary Pagel, Frank Wilcox and Dennis and Mike Wilson. Burial was in Rock Creek Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Grinnell Regional Hospice or the Shriners' Hospital.

She was born Aug. 15, 1924, in the Rock Creek area near Kellogg to Herman and Gladys Shill Deppe. She was raised on the family farm and attended rural school. She was married on July 6, 1945, to David W. Springer in Buford, S.C. The couple lived in Grinnell until 1962 when they moved to Rock Creek Lake in Jasper County. She was a homemaker and member of the women's groups of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners' Lodge.

She is survived by one son Rick Springer of Kellogg; one daughter Janice Springer of Clear Lake; two grandchildren; three brothers, Albert Deppe and Gerald Deppe, both of Grinnell, and Ernest (Bud) Deppe of Kellogg, and two sisters, Bernice Winchell and Maxine Wilson, both of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
