TED KANN, 70, DIES SUDDENLY; SERVICES FRIDAY

A well-known Grinnell man, Ted Kann, 70, died suddenly at a local hospital Tuesday morning shortly after being admitted.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday from the Smith Funeral Home with Dr. G.S. Bruland, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Organ music will be provided by Mrs. Rhee Auman.

In charge of flowers will be Mrs. Gail Young and Mrs. Carl Johnson. Serving as pallbearers will be Lyle Ormiston, Ben Sanders, Ivan Allgood, Gail Young, Myron Heneke and Floyd Daley.

Interment will be in Rock Creek cemetery.

The son of Frank and Annabelle Dunbar Kann, he was born Apr. 7, 1891, in Poweshiek county. He was married to Bernice Brush at her home west of Brooklyn on July 23, 1913, and one child was born to this union, Mrs. Albert (Virginia) Deppe of Rte. 2, Grinnell.

Mr. and Mrs. Kann farmed for 30 years in the Malcom community and one year near Tama before moving to Grinnell in 1945 to make their home. Following retirement from farming, Mr. Kann worked at Kellogg, for Grinnell College, and as custodian for St. Francis hospital and the Congregational church.

Survivors include his wife and daughter; six grandchildren; two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Ray (Mae) Robey, Mrs. Arthur (Pearl) Kuntz, and William Kann, all of Brooklyn; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother in infancy.
