CHARLES BRUSH RITES FRIDAY

Charles W. Brush, 77, of 215 Broad St., Grinnell, died Tuesday morning at Veterans Hospital in Iowa City.

Funeral services for Mr. Brush will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home's east side facility, with the Rev. Hugh Shiveley, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery.

The son of Samuel and Florence Brush, he was born June 7, 1900, at Brooklyn. He was graduated from Brooklyn High School and served with the U.S. Army during World War I.

On June 24, 1926, he was married to Bessie O. Provin. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Brooklyn, Guernsey and Montezuma areas. They moved to Vancouver, Wash., during World War II, moving to Grinnell in 1948.

Mr. Brush is survived by two sons, Bruce T. Brush of Zionsville, Ind., and Samuel G. Brush of Selden, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Marian Rosson of Decorah and Mrs. Bernice Kann of Grinnell. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a son, William, in infancy.
