BESSIE BRUSH DIES AT 68

Mrs. Bessie Provin Brush, 68, the wife of Charles W. Brush of 215 Broad St., died Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 26, at Grinnell General Hospital of an apparent heart attack.

The daughter of George W. and Katie Smith Provin, she was born Feb. 8, 1906, near Guernsey. She attended the Guernsey schools, graduating from high school, and she also attended the University of Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls.

On June 24, 1926, she was married to Charles Wallace Brush at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. The couple had three sons, William W. who died in infancy; Bruce T. of Zionsville, Ind.; and Samuel G. of Selden, N.Y.

Mr. and Mrs. Brush had farmed in the Brooklyn, Guernsey and Montezuma communities before living in Vancouver, Wash., during World War II. In 1948 they returned to Grinnell. They had lived in their present home the past 10 years. Mrs. Brush was employed for 20 years at the Midwest Metal Stamping Co., in Kellogg before retiring three years ago.

She is survived by her husband; her two sons; four grandchildren, Thomas and Gregory Brush of Zionsville, Ind., and Lawrence and Carolyn Brush of Selden, N.Y.; and two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Shook of Grinnell and Mrs. Kathryn Busse of Davenport. She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant son, an infant grandchild, and five brothers, Smith, George, Carmi, Carl and Keith Provin.

Funeral services for Mrs. Brush are pending, and friends may call the Smith Funeral Home for additional information.
