ELIJAH SHOOK RITES HELD AT GRINNELL

Funeral services for Elijah Elmer Shook of Grinnell were held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, September 12, at the Smith Funeral Home there. The Rev. Allen Taylor, pastor of the Church of God, officiated. The organist was Mrs. Willard Heffner.

Pallbearers were Bruce Bruch, Charles Gilliland, Gary A. Shook, Gene F. Shook, George M. Shook and Kenneth L. Shook. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

Mr. Shook, 78, died suddenly at his home Thursday morning, September 10.

The son of Peter and Anna Collins Shook, he was born Aug. 22, 1892.

On Nov. 1, 1917, he was married to the former Elsie Geneva Provin at Montezuma. The couple farmed for a number of years before moving to Grinnell in 1945. Before retiring he had been employed at the Model Lunch and at Grinnell College.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie; three sons, George E. Shook of Sac City, Kenneth K. Shook of Grinnell and Willard Shook of Marshalltown, and their wives; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Lloyd (Viola) Albright of Rocky Comfort, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mrs. Harry (Julia) Slycord; and three brothers, Eli, William and Lewis; and a great-granddaughter, Nancy Geneva Springer.
