GLEMA JONES

Glema M. Jones, 82, of Davenport, formerly of Searsboro, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, at St. Luke's Hospital in Davenport.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bruce Feuerbach, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Organist will be Alice Renaud, and pallbearers will be David Erbst, Shane Gibson, Greg Jones, Max Jones, Perry Jones and Keith Stone. Burial will be in Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma.

The daughter of David and Agnes Wood Rivers, she was born Jan. 24, 1911, in Poweshiek County. She was a graduate of Montezuma High School and attended William Penn College.

She was married to Alfred E. Jones Sept. 7, 1935, in Cambridge, Ill. They lived in the Quad Cities area for 27 years before moving to Searsboro. They had lived in Davenport since 1989.

Mrs. Jones was a member of the Eastern Star and the Searsboro Garden Club, Card Club and Sewing Club.

She is survived by her husband, Alfred of Davenport; four daughters, Linda Howerton of Davenport, Virginia Stone of Blue Grass, Yvonne Peterson of Atkinson, Ill., and June Lankford of Davenport; one son, James of Metamora, Ill.; a brother, Edward Rivers of Riverview, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Farrell "Tom" Rivers.
