TERYE RASMUSSEN

Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Terye R. Rasmussen, 79, a native of Grinnell, died Saturday, Nov. 7, at Halstead Hospital, Halstead, Kan.

A memorial service was conducted Wednesday at Mt. Hope United Methodist Church in Mt. Hope, Kan., with the Rev. Bob Gleason officiating. Private inurnment will be at a later date. The Van Campen Funeral Home of Haven, Kan., is in charge of arrangements.

He was the son of I.S. and Ragna L. Lovig Rasmussen and was born Sept. 24, 1919, in Grinnell. He served with the Air Force in World War II and the Korean Conflict, retiring from the 184th Tactical Fighter Wing Kansas National Guard. He was also a retired contractor and had been a carrier for the Hutchinson (Kan.) News for 16 years.

He was a member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, the VFW and the American Legion.

He was married to Betty Jane Miles Aug. 1, 1944, in Bellevue, Ill.

Surviving are his wife, one son Christopher of Mt. Hope, three daughters, Jane Moore of Geuda Springs, Kan., Cindy Gesell of Newton, Kan., and Kristin Burley of Ponca City, Okla.; three brothers, Mark and Robert, both of Iowa, and John of California; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Memorials may be made to the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church or the Mt. Hope Ambulance Service and sent in care of Van Campen Funeral Home, 102 N. Wichita, P.O. Box 2212,I Haven, Kan. 67543
