MRS. RASMUSSEN 62, HERE 50 YEARS, DIES

Mrs. Sam (Ragna Laurensa) Rasmussen, longtime resident of the Grinnell community, died Tuesday noon, August 23, following an illness of several months. She was 62 years old.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at two o'clock from the Methodist church at Grinnell with Rev. John DeLong officiating.

Mrs. Rasmussen resided on a farm in Grant township south of Grinnell. She had been a resident here since 1905, coming to the United States and Grinnell from her native Norway.

Daughter of Thomas and Sophia Roos Lovig, both deceased, she was born at Stavanger, Norway, Oct. 11, 1892. She came to Grinnell in 1905 and was married on Christmas day, Dec. 25, 1914, to Ingval Sevrin (Sam) Rasmussen at Stanhope, Ia.

Baptized in the Lutheran church, she attended the Methodist church at Grinnell.

Surviving are her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Dina) Durr of Montezuma and Mrs. Marie Smith of Inglewood, Calif.; seven sons, Sevrin of Knoxville, Terye of Wichita, Kansas, George of Omaha, Neb., Gustav, Robert and John of Grinnell, and Mark of Gilman.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Howard (Agate) Hamilton of Seattle, Washington, and Mrs. Mildred Swan of Corpus Christi, Texas.

At the final rites, flower bearers will be Mr. and Mrs. Henry Niester and Mrs. Dick Potts. Pallbearers will be her sons, George, Robert, Gustav, Terye, John and Mark. Burial will be at Hazelwood cemetery with Smith Funeral Home in charge.

Sevrin Rasmussen, a seventh son, will also be one of the pallbearers. Music will be by Mrs. Dolph Miller and Hoyle Carpenter.
