IRENE SHUTT SERVICES HELD

Irene M. Shutt, 72, of Austin, Minn., a native of Grinnell, died Wednesday, July 7, in Austin.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, July 10, at the Methodist Church in Austin, with the Rev. David Meade officiating. Pallbearers were Steve Rutherford, Mark Rutherford, Joseph Edelen, David Dimit, Robert Halliday and George Lourias. Burial was at Hazelwood Cemetery here.

The daugher of Dana C. and Ora Belle Murphy, she was born Aug. 4, 1909, in Grinnell. She attended school here. On May 15, 1927, she was married to Ralph I. Larsen in Grinnell. He preceded her in death in 1961. On Aug. 4, 1962, she was married to Eli E. Shutt and moved to Austin.

Mrs. Shutt was a member of the Austin Floral Club and Methodist women's groups.

She is survived by her husband, Eli; her children, Velda Rutherford of Grinnell and Joanne Dimit of Austin; her step children, Marian Halliday of Webster City, Shirley Lourias of Dallas, Texas, and Everett Shutt of Tower, Minn.; a brother, Willard Murphy of Forest Grove, Ore.; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. An aunt, Nora Gordon, lives in Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband and a grandson.
