ISABEL RUTHERFORD
Isabel P. Rutherford, 88, of 215 Fourth Ave., Grinnell, died Saturday, July 1, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with burial in Pleasant Township Cemetery, Ewart. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The family will be present from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Grinnell.
The daughter of John and Evelyn Ferneau Bowman, she was born Dec. 1. 1906, in Grinnell. She attended Grinnell schools.
She was married to Ralph W. Rutherford Dec. 9, 1924, in Newton. They farmed near Ewart and in 1936 moved to a farm east of Grinnell. They retired in 1957 and moved to Grinnell. Mrs. Rutherford worked in the dietary departments of the former Community Hospital and the Mayflower Home.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Rebekah Lodge and the LGT Club, of which she was a charter member.
Surviving are her son, Robert of Grinnell; two daughters, Carolyn Stuart and Judy Turner, both of Grinnell; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Dess Martin; three grandchildren and two brothers, Samuel and Fred Bowman.
