MERLE MANATT RITES

Funeral services for Merle Terry Manatt, 14, of rural Malcom, were conducted by the Rev. James Davidson at the Malcom Presbyterian Church on Saturday afternoon. Music was provided by Mrs. Keith Stahl, vocalist, accompanied by organist Miss Vicki Mann.

Burial was at Ivy Hill Cemetery, Malcom. Serving as pallbearers were Dwight Beyer, Timothy Steffin, Patrick White, Jim Mowrey, Brett Griffith and Tom Thompson.

Flower bearers were Mr. and Mrs. Herchel Griffith and Mr. and Mrs. James VanArkel.

Merle was killed in a tractor accident near his family farm home Wednesday morning, April 22. He was an eighth grade student at BGM junior high school in Brooklyn.

The son of James Harold and Laurma Jean Baltisberger Manatt, he was born in Grinnell on Dec. 8, 1955. He attended the Malcom Presbyterian Church and took part in school choral groups.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his sister and two brothers - Mrs. Ronald (Constance Kay) Coleman of Davenport, Larry James Manatt of Malcom and Ronald Eugene Manatt of the home; his grandmothers, Mrs. Harry M. (Esther) Porter of Grinnell and Mrs. Lester J. (Ella) Baltisberger of Malcom.

He was preceded in death by two infant brothers.
