LLOYD HENDERSON DIES SUDDENLY LAST THURSDAY

Lloyd Henderson, 64, of 1206 Spring St., died suddenly at his home last Thursday evening.

Funeral services were held this afternoon (Monday) from the James-Schalinske Funeral Home with the Rev. David E. Goetsch officiating. Organ music was provided by Mrs. Kathleen Heffner.

Serving on the flower committee were Mrs. Nellie Inman and Mrs. Ruby Hutchinson. Pall-bearers were Harold Schultz, W.C. French, Gerald Phipps, Lester Pickhardt, Guy Slaven, and Ed Brand.

Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery. Graveside services were conducted by the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Grinnell Lodge No. 358.

The son of George and Margaret Hampton Henderson, he was born on September 13th, 1896 at Galesburg, Ill. For the past 40 years he had made his home in Grinnell and for the past seven years had been employed by the Farmers Mutual Reinsurance Co. For 19 years previous, he had been employed by the Post Office.

On April 29th, 1923, he was united in marriage with Mary Ellen Essex by the Rev. M.J. Hannon. Mrs. Henderson preceded him in death on Oct. 15th, 1943.

Mr. Henderson is survived by his sons, Robert of Grinnell and Doanld of Newton; five granddaughters; and a half brother, Lloyd Lang Henderson of Omaha, Nebr. Besides his wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents and a half sister.

He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Grinnell Lodge No. 358; Rebekah Lodge No. 119; Fidelity Encampment No. 118; and the John R. Lewis Canton No. 59. He had been serving as scribe for the Encampment and was just recently appointed the Grand Musician for the Grand Encampment.
