ARTHUR MANATT FUNERAL WAS HELD THIS AFTERNOON

Funeral services for Arthur Lee Manatt, veteran Grinnell barber, were held from Snyder Brother's Chapel at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon, conducted by Rev. W.F. Long. Pallbearers were Clyde Connelly, John Ditzler, Bert Speth, Lee Grooms, Jack Clifford and Ed Jantzen. Burial was made in the Brooklyn cemetery.

Mr. Manatt died very suddenly at 1 o'clock Saturday morning. He had worked as usual all day Friday and had seemed in his usual health when he retired at night. He was aged 59 years, 2 months and 28 days. He is survived by his wife and one brother, Clair Manatt of Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by his broher Jeff, who also at one time had a barber shop in Grinnell.

"Art" Manatt was the oldest active barber in Grinnell in point of actual experience at the trade. He started as a barber when he was 14 years old, and had his own chair when he was 15. He had conducted his own shop in the Elks building, under the Matthew's drug store, ever since the building was erected. He will be remembered as a fine workman and a pleasant friend.
