LAST SERVICES AT BROOKLYN FOR MRS. KENNETH HOCKENBURY
Mrs. Kenneth Hockenbury of Sioux City, daughter of Mrs. Anna Billick, died last Dec. 28 in a Sioux City hospital following surgery. She was 43 years old.
Funeral services were conducted in Sioux City at 10:00 a.m. Monday morning with the Rev. O.B. Anderson of the First Lutheran church of Sioux City officiating. Services in Brooklyn were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the First Presbyterian church in charge of the Rev. Paul Figge, assisted by the Rev. E.W.F. Holler. Mrs. Ed Bartachek, at the organ, accompanied Mrs. George Montgomery, who sang two selections.
Interment was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery with the following serving as pall-bearers: Wallace Scott, Ross Ramsey, Robert Belland, Balzer Kriegel, Charles Santoro, and Howard Patten.
Mrs. Opal Billick Hockenbury, daughter of Irving and Anna Billick, was born April 10, 1908, in Brooklyn. She was graduated from LeGrand, Iowa high school in 1926. She had lived in Sioux City since Nov. 26, 1936, at which time she married Kenneth Hockenbury, an attorney.
For many years Mrs. Hockenbury had taken an active interest in the social, civic and religious activities in Sioux City. She was a member of the First Lutheran church and the order of Eastern Star. The Hockenbury family visited frequently in the parental home in Brooklyn, having been there only recently for the holiday season.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Meredith, 9; her mother; two brothers, Julius Billick of Marshalltown and Joe Billick of Brooklyn; and two sisters, Mrs. Lyle Hall of Malcom and Mrs. William Lunde of Marshalltown. She was preceded in death by her father in March 1951 and her brother, Herbert, in 1943.
