RITES HELD SUNDAY FOR MRS. HAYWARD LONGTIME RESIDENT HERE: ILL FOR SEVERAL YEARS

Funeral services for Mrs. Mollie Hayward were held Sunday, September 17 at Bramer's Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. M.A. Robeson, pastor of the Presbyterian church, officiating. Vocal music was provided by Mrs. George Montgomery and Mrs. Wayne Heishman with the organ accompaniment by Miss Thursia Manatt. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: J.E. Talbott, Sam Werner, Perry Willett, Hugh Montgomery, Al Avery, and Andrew Calderwood.

For several years, Mrs. Hayward had not been well. For the past nine months she had been seriously ill with a heart ailment spending part of the time in a hospital. She returned to the hospital a few days before her death.

Mrs. Mollie Hayward, daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Keyser, was born in a log cabin near Malcom on Feb. 4, 1872 and passed away at the hospital in Grinnell, Sept. 16, 1944 at the age of 72. Her entire life was spent in and near Brooklyn except for the past six years when she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Irving Meyers of Victor.

On Jnuary 1, 1894, she was married to Samuel Benton. Mr. Benton died April 3, 1909. She was married to Harvey Hayward on Sept. 25, 1912 and they were the parents of one daughter, Mrs. Thursia Meyers. Mr. Hayward died October 12, 1936.

Besides her daughter, Mrs. Hayward is survived by her grandson, Terry Meyers; a sister, Mrs. Almeda Benton of Des Moines; several cousins, nieces and nephews and a large number of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and a brother.

Mrs. Hayward was a member of the Christian church in Brooklyn and later attended the Presbyterian church. She was a member of the local Pythian Sisters Chapter.

NOTE: Mollie Hayward's maiden name was spelled KEYSOR.
