ALMA F. GWIN RITES SATURDAY

Alma F. Gwin, 85, died Thursday afternoon at the Montezuma Senior Home.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Timothy Crown, pastor of the Regular Baptist Church in Altoona, officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Kathleen Heffner, organist, and Mrs. Gary Wilson and the Rev. and Mrs. Timothy Crown, vocalists. Pallbearers were Ray Lockhart, Ben Braley, Greg Rasmussen, Roger Souter, Dennis Monsma, and Ron Monsma.

Burial was at Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of Emery and Minnie Keysor Benton, she was born May 29, 1891, at Malcom. She was married to Harry M. Gwin on Nov. 30, 1912, at Marshalltown. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Gwin lived near Malcom and Carnforth. They moved to Grinnell in 1922.

Mrs. Gwin was a practical nurse at the former St. Francis Hospital for a number of years.

Survivors include her children, Mrs. George (Pauline) Graham of Sumner, Wash., Mrs. John (Lucille) Lockhart of Des Moines, Mrs. Frank (Harriet) Braley of Oskaloosa, Mrs. Donald (Cathryn) Souter of Grinnell, Mrs. George (Lillian) Rasmussen of Bellvue, Neb., Mrs. Dwight (Shirley) Monsma of Altoona and Harry M. Gwin Jr. of Grinnell; 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harry in 1949; five sisters, Mrs. Tressa Byers, Mrs. Ada Torrance, Mrs. Xavie Flaherty, Mrs. Wilma Fiser, and Maggie Benton in infancy; and four brothers, Delbert, Guy, Jay and Johnnie Benton.
