MR. LATCHAM DIES IN PHOENIX
Clair E. Latcham, 69, of Phoenix, Ariz., died Saturday May 9, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix.
Memorial services were conducted Wednesday at the Bible Church of God in Phoenix.
The son of L. Clark and Ada Benton Latcham, he was born Oct. 10, 1912, in Grinnell. He attended school in Hartwick and graduated from high school in 1930. He participated in basketball and other sports.
On Nov. 4, 1938, he was married to Virginia Stehr of Marshalltown. They made their home in Grinnell where he worked for "Butch" Reynolds in the cleaning business, later going into business for himself, first on Main St. and then at Claire's Cleaners on Fifth Ave.
In 1954, he sold his business to Karl Eker and moved to Phoenix. He remained in the cleaning business there until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia; one daughter, Peggy Christy; two grandchildren; a sister, Lois Van Renterghem of Brooklyn; and three half-sisters, Irene Houck of Ladora, Carol Kinsler of Marengo and Marilyn Landon of Williamburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, an infant grandson and two step-sisters.
