RAY CLIFTON, 58, DIES SUDDENLY AT CEDAR RAPIDS

Ray Clifton, 58, of 1116 Hamilton Avenue, died Friday afternoon at St. Luke's hospital at Cedar Rapids. He was on a business trip with his son at the time.

Funeral services were held this afternoon (Monday) from the James-Schalinske Funeral Home. Officiating was the Rev. Wayne A. Shireman, pastor of the First Baptist church. Interment was in Chester cemetery.

The son of Charles A. and Carrie E. Renshaw Clifton, he was born in Grinnell on Oct. 4th, 1905. A lifelong resident of Grinnell, he attended the local schools and made his home in the community.

On June 14th, 1926, he was united in marriage with Louise Hafkey at Newton. For the past 30 years he had been engaged in the trucking business.

Survivors include his wife, Louise; a son, Raymond D. Clifton of Grinnell; three grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth J. Clifton of Grinnell; a sister, Mrs. Jeannette Coon of Hibbing, Minn.; his mother, Mrs. Carrie E. Clifton of Grinnell; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.
