HARVEY VEST GRIFFITH DIES
One of Grinnell's Good Men Is Called Suddenly From Life's Activities.

DIED SATURDAY AFTERNOON AFTER A BRIEF ILLNESS.

Funeral Services Were Held Monday, Conducted by Rev. George Blagg.

Harvey Vest Griffith, son of Valentine and Susan Griffith, was born at Montezuma, Iowa, January 29, 1869, and passed away at Grinnell, Iowa, Feb. 27, 1926. His early life was spent in Montezuma. He has lived in Grinnell for 37 years and for thirty years has been engaged in the furnace business. On Jan. 25, 1893, he was united in marriage to Miss May Gilbert who survives him. One daughter, Mrs. Jay Heisel, also mourns his decease. There are many other relatives and friends.

Mr. Griffith was a member of the Methodist church in Grinnell and served on the Official Board. He will be missed from his place in Sunday School and church. He was held in high esteem by all his acquaintances and business associates. A man of strict integrity his sudden death comes as a shock to all. The sympathy of the community goes out to Mrs. Griffith who is ill at the Community hospital.

Mr. Griffith had been at the Community Hospital Friday evening to see Mrs. Griffith, who is a patient there, and on his return became seriously ill. He was able to call a physician who took him at once to the hospital where he passed away Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.

Fuenral services were held at the home Monday afternoon March 1st, in charge of the Rev. George Blagg. Appropriate hymns were sung by Mr. D.C. Phillips with Mrs. W.H. Taylor at the piano. Burial was made in Hazelwood.

Pall beaarers were M.G. Fry, F.J. Kiesel, Elmer Bortell, J.N. Hartzell, Chas. Horak and M.M. Gregson. Interment was in Hazelwood.

Mr. Griffith has been one of the industrious and worthy men of Grinnell. He has always been a hard worker, has kept his word to every man and made a reputation for fair dealing which is worth much to anyone who engages in business. Industrious, conscientious, and honorable, his many friends will remember him as a clean upright man.

To his sorrowing wife and daughter all will extend the warm hand of sympathy.
