RITES HELD FOR SAM GRAHAM

Samuel A. (Sam) Graham, 94, of Rte. 4, Grinnell, died Sunday, Jan. 22, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Fraternal rites were conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, by Clark Watkins and members of Hermon Masonic Lodge of Grinnell.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Daniel I. Ogata, pastor of the First United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner, and pallbearers were Douglas Allen, Michael Allen, Rodney Allen, John Burnell, Duane Graham and Dan Slagle. Flower bearers were Jill Allen, Sandy Allen, Cindy Graham, and Jenese Slagle.

Burial was in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Malcom.

The son of Alfred C. and Margaret Williams Graham, he was born April 12, 1889, near Albany, Ky. He attended rural schools there. When he was a young man, he came to the Midwest and worked on farms, moving to the Malcom area in 1915.

He was married to Alma H. Pimlott on Dec. 10, 1918, in Grinnell, and the couple farmed in the Grinnell and Malcom areas.

Mr. Graham was a member of the Malcom Co-op, the Poweshiek County Farm Bureau, the Victor Grange, the Odd Fellows lodge and a 50-year member of the Masonic lodge.

He is survived by one daughter, Myrna Allen of Grinnell; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, William Graham of New Castle, and Oren Graham of Albany, Ky.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1976; a son, Beecher Graham, on Jan. 20 of this year; an infant son, Ferrell S. Graham; one brother and three sisters.
