RITES SATURDAY FOR MRS. MABEL SIMERAL

Death came to Mrs. Mabel Simeral, 83, last Thursday at Baird's nursing home in Montezuma where she had lived since April, 1962. Mrs. Simeral, widow of Dr. F.E. Simeral, Brooklyn physician for many years, had been in failing health for several years. She suffered a fractured hip last month and had been hospitalized in Cedar Rapids. She was returned to the nursing home a week before her death.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at two o'clock at Bramer Funeral Home with the Rev. C.W. Woollard, pastor of Grace Methodist church, officiating. Organist was Leo Shuler.

Interment was in I.O.O.F. cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Bert R. Gillette, Lynn Montgomery, Clem DeMeulenaere, L.L. Kinamon, E.L. Montgomery and Floyd McAllister.

The daughter of John and Cornelia Talbott, she was born April 24, 1882, in Brooklyn and died January 13, 1966, in Montezuma. She graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1899 and attended Grinnell College.

She taught music in the Brooklyn Schools until her marriage to Fred E. Simeral, January 1, 1908. She assisted in her husband's office for many years. Dr. Simeral died in 1941. Mrs. Simeral had worked a few years in the office of the Brooklyn Chronicle during World War II.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Mathies of Omaha, Nebr.; a sister, Mrs. Jennie Schmitz of Brooklyn; three grandsons, Jim Mathies of Kansas City, Mo., Dick Mathies of Independence and Jack Mathies, stationed on Guam with the Air Force. She also leaves four great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband and two brothers, Frank R. and John E. Talbott.
