Catherine Jane Thompson

Catherine Jane Thompson was born Feb. 5, 1857, in Lacon, Illinois, and died at her home in Neligh, Nebr., October 20, 1932, aged 75 years, 8 months and 15 days.

When 7 years old she moved with her parents to a farm near Deep River, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. As a girl she united with the Methodist church, to which she had been ever faithful. On March 20, 1883, she was united in marriage to Henry J. Orr, of Brooklyn, Iowa. After a short residence at Brooklyn, they moved to Elizabeth, New Jersey, where they remained for six years, after which time they returned to Brooklyn, where they lived until 1907, when they came to Neligh, where they resided on a farm until the death of her husband in 1915, after which time she came to Neligh, where she resided until the time of her death.

Those who remain to mourn her loss are William of Lodgepole, Mrs. Henry Reutzel of Brunswick, Henry and Robert of Clearwater, Willard of Neligh, Mrs. Lenora Duncan of Peetz, Colorado, a niece, Mrs. F.J. Hajny of Esbon, Kansas, eight grandchildren, one great-grand child and a host of friends. One daughter preceded her in death, six years ago.

Funeral services were held in the First Methodist church in Neligh, conducted by Rev. W.C. Kelly, pastor of the church, on Monday, October 24, 1932 at 2:00 o'clock.
