William Andrew Thompson, whose death we mentioned last week, was a son of George and Mary Thompson and was born in Illinois Feb. 27, 1864. He departed this life Feb. 26, 1902, within one day of his thirty-eighth birthday. The family located in Lincoln township in 1868, residing continuously on the same farm where "Willis," as he was familiarly called, passed away after an illness of about three weeks. On Nov. 28, 1900, he was united in marriage with Miss Cora Bushnell, who with a babe a month old, his aged mother and one sister, Mrs. Henry Orr, of Malcom, survive him. In November, 1894, he was converted and united with the Pleasant Ridge M.E. church. He was also a member of Golden Rod lodge No. 512, A.F. & A.M., of this place and of Palmetto Camp No. 297, M.W. of A., in which latter order he carried an insurance of $2,000. The funeral took place from the M.E. church here on Feb. 28th, to the Masonic cemetery, the service being conducted by his pastor, the Rev. W.A. Longnecker. The funeral was under the auspices of the Masonic order.
