Montezuma (IA) Republican; May 14, 1879

DIED.--Geo. Thompson, of Union Ridge, died Saturday in Brooklyn, of an injury received some days before by being thrown out of his wagon by a runaway team. He was buried on Sunday last at the United Presbyterian Church, Lincoln township. Mrs. Thompson was also thrown out of the wagon and received serious injury. She is now lying in a critical condition. We chronicle the death of Mr. Thompson with sorrow, for we knew him to be a true man, a good citizen and kind husband. He will be sadly missed by his many friends on Union Ridge where he always took an active part in affairs when alive. He was a member of the Orange order, and the order buried him according to the rites and ceremonies of the institution he loved so well. Geo. Thompson sleeps the long, long sleep. Peace to his ashes.
