FREDA M. HAJNY

Freda M. Hajny, 78, 3640 Indian Hills Drive, Sioux City, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 1990 in Sioux City Nursing Home. Funeral rites were conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10 in Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel with the Rev. Paul Sieveking of Redeemer Lutheran Church officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City.

Mrs. Hajny was born March 14, 1911, the daughter of Neely and Luetta Hilligas Brimmer in Poweshiek County, Iowa. She attended Brooklyn Schools and moved to Sioux City in 1927.

She married Willard J. Leach in 1927 in Montezuma. In 1961 she married George Hajny. He died July 1, 1979 in Sioux City.

She was a waitress, hostess and later manager of the tea room at T.S. Martin Co. for 17 years. She then moved to Sioux Falls, S.D. and managed a tea room, returning to Sioux City in 1951. She retired as manager of a lunch room in 1974.

Survivors include a son, Willard "Bill" Leach of Sioux City; a brother, Howard Brimmer of Brooklyn; a sister, Mrs. Beulah Roth of Brooklyn; five grandsons and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Keefe; a son, Larry Leach, and her husband George.
