ROTH FUNERAL WAS THURSDAY
BURIAL IN CALBARY CEMETERY HERE

Funeral services for Mrs. Kathryn Roth, 83, were held Thursday morning, Dec. 11 at ten o'clock at St. Patrick's church with the Rev. Joseph Fath of Bauer, nephew of Mrs. Roth, singing the solemn requiem high mass. Rev. J.L. Garrity of Brooklyn served as deacon and Rev. Lawrence Vogel of Nichols as sub-deacon.

Interment was in Calvary cemetery with the following grandsons serving as pallbearers: Lloyd Kriegel, William Kriegel, William Leeper, Leonard Roth, Maynard Roth and Wallace Roth.

Kathryn Mashino Roth was born Oct. 26, 1864, at Haspelscheidt, Germany, the daughter of John George and Ann Dawern Mashino, and died at her home in Brooklyn, Iowa, Dec. 9, 1947, following a long illness. She was married to Joseph Roth Nov. 19, 1895 at Haspelscheidt, Germany and the family came to America in September, 1900, and they settled on a farm in Poweshiek county. The family always lived on a farm in this community and moved to Brooklyn 20 years ago. Her husband died March 7, 1934.

Surviving are three sons and two daughters: Joe, Fritz and William Roth, Mrs. John Kriegel and Mrs. Howard Brimmer. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Peter Fath and Mrs. Mary Fogel; 40 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. James Leeper, four grandsons and two great-granddaughters.
