VALDA B. CONNELL, 87

Mrs. Valda B. Connell, 87, of Brooklyn, died Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at Brooklyn Community Estates, Brooklyn.

Funeral services for Valda Connell were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 23, at Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Rev. David Rogula, Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiated. The musician was Marilyn Kriegel and special selections were "Precious Memories," "The Lord's Prayer" and "On The Wings Of A White Snow Dove." Casket-bearers were Tim Ingersoll, Jim Schwiebert, George Cline, Seth Cline, Rusty Clayton and Kurt Brannian. Interment was in Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery, Brooklyn.

A memorial fund has been established.

Valda Berniece Fullerton Connell waws born May 30, 1919, in Woodston, Kansas. Her parents were Orval Fullerton and Bertha Bull Fullerton.

Valda received her education in Alton, Kansas, where she graduated from high school in the class of 1937.

In 1948 she was married to Daryl Brannian in her parents home. They were the parents of one daughter, Marilyn. They farmed until his death in 1970.

On July 9, 1973, Valda married Earl Connell at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Earl died June 17, 1983.

Valda worked for Brookhaven Nursing Home for twenty-seven and a half years as a nurse's aid. Previously she had worked for over five years at the Ben Franklin Store in Brooklyn.

Mrs. Connell was a former member of the Church of the Brethren and currently was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Columbian Club. Valda enjoyed sewing and embroidery.

Her parents, and her husbands, preceded her in death.

Surviving are her daughter, Marilyn Brannian; a sister, Lucille Smith of Mesa, Ariz.; other relatives and friends.
